Crossover filters that survive a choppy June

June and July on several ASX sectors often flatten into ranges that punish unfiltered crossover systems. The averages still cross; the trades still reverse.

Three filter ingredients we recommend testing

  1. Slope agreement — both averages tilting the same way for a minimum number of bars.
  2. Distance from price — ignore crosses when price is hugging the lines inside a narrow band.
  3. Structure check — require a swing break or reclaim before the cross becomes a note.

Mild reservation

Filters reduce opportunity. Some traders find the third ingredient too slow on London FX opens. That is a legitimate tension. Write the exception as an exception — do not silently abandon the filter on every quiet Australian afternoon.
